[ INDONESIA ] Batam 2D1N (18 Mar - 19 Mar 2017)

Monday, 11 June 2018

Went to Batam for a short 2D1N trip as a bridesmaid getaway (Hen's night) for my elder sister wedding that is happening on 1st April.

Elder sis went a day earlier than us.
Her buddy June went on the same day as us due to work commitment.
She was super nice enough to help us book our cruise ticket and Hotel.
Managed to book the same Hotel as my elder sis.

On our way to Batam in the cruise ship.
Our cruise time is around 12PM, booked to arrive early because we are doing a surprise party for my sister.
Planned to meet my elder sister around 2~3PM after we are done setting up the room for surprise.

By the time we arrived to the Hotel (via the local taxi), the room was ready for us.
June had booked the suite room that comes with a separate living and bedroom.

We immediately head out to the nearby Nagoya mall to buy stuffs.
Some food and alcohol and tibits for the party.

One of the reason that I was excited for the trip was that I finally get to eat the A&W in Batam.
The taste with the ones that I had in Bangkok was definitely different.

Meanwhile, throughout, my elder sis has been trying to text us to ask about our whereabouts.

Lucky the 2 friends that are with her are in cahoots with us, so they dilly-dally took their time while we set up the room before heading out to meet them at the local karaoke.

We set up the room with fairy lights, balloons (bought from Daiso), a bouquet of baby breath (bought by lil sis), tibits and some other decorations.

After the karaoke session, we head down to the nearby shopping mall to grab some quick bite and to buy some tibits.

We were lucky to meet a good driver whose car is just nice to pick us all.
My sister had booked him prior to send us to the Harbourbay Seafood Restaurant.

Dinner was affordable since it was split among the 6 of us.
I tried to help with ordering with my limited Malay language since most staff do not speak English as most of their customers are locals.

We were seated outside by the railing area, the restaurant is nearby to the seaside, so we could hear the waves crashing the shore.

Only managed to take photos of 2 dishes that we had that day.
Other than the above 2 dishes, we ordered crab, chicken, vegetable.

After dinner, we quickly made our way to the payment counter and as we knew that my elder sister will definitely be at the payment counter, one of the bridesmaid accompanied my sister while we discuss about our surprise plan.

So we came up with a idea that we will say that we want to visit my sister's Hotel room to see how it looks like and I will then fake like I need a toilet break but want to use my room's toilet as an excuse to get back to our room to do the last round of party set-up.

So June and I went back together to set up the room and wait for my sister and the other bridesmaid to come to our room.

A text from my lil sister that they're coming to our room and me and June anxiously wait with me having my phone in video function, waiting to film her reaction.

We totally forgotten to get a bottle opener, so me and lil sister come up with whatever methods we could.
I used spoon (saw the method from online) and my lil sister used fork.

We end the day rather quick as we want to leave earlier to have some last round of shopping which is nearby to the ferry terminal.

Last round of A&W before we head off back to Singapore.
Ate the chicken on Day 1, so I decide to have the ice cream waffles and root beer float.

This trip may be short but I enjoyed.
I will be back some day.

We were lucky that we managed to find a row of seats just nice for the 6 of us.
They were showing Mr Bean cartoon on the cruise ship.
That's the end of the trip.
More to come.
